Post author@T2 - There's literally hundreds of external power solutions that have been around for years powering up Canon DSLR cameras. Think about all the V-Mount battery adapters, etc. I've also had my share of OEM batteries eventually fail on me too.
I just recently went through (4) brand new GoPro HERO4 cameras because of hardware failures, and nothing was aftermarket. So while we can say direct from the Manufacturer is Best', $H!t happens I guess.
I don't see an issue, but the GH4 camera pretty much runs all day without an external so if you're paranoid it would be better you don't use one.

Emm - Check this out.

How susceptible do you think the Varavon external battery solution (or any third-party external solution) could be to this type of failure?

Post author@T2 - I never had to call them or email them. Maybe you can check your Spam inbox?

Emm - Have you ever had any dealings with Varavon customer support? If so, how was it? I've sent emails and made calls with zero response.

I don't see how the battery door would lock with that cable attached? How does that work?
David
@Emm Thanks! :/

Post author@David - Sorry, once the GH4 is in a cage, I don't know of any way to mount up an LCD Viewfinder. Typically with a cage you would add a monitor or maybe an EVF.

Hello Emm!
Do you know about any solution if I would like to use a viewfinder with my Varavon GH4 Armor Cage? Could you please share? I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for this answer. Thank you in advance! David

Post author@ignacio - Not sure why, but you can just go to the Varavon website.
