At CineGear Expo 2015, not only has F&V officially opened orders for the new Z720 LED Ring Light, but they have also announced a more affordable model labeled as the 'R720' for those who may not require some of the high end offerings of the premium Z720.

Unlike the Z720 the R720 does not come standard with Independent Quadrant Control or Wifi Control. The good news is that you may be able to unlock these features at a later time, by upgrading the control module on your R720.

The 720 LED ring lights are incredibly versatile and portable. The large diameter of the F&V Ring Light allows you to use it off camera as a stand-alone LED Fixture and can even be used with an optional Softbox. The lights can be operated on two NP-F batteries which means you can take it anywhere you go. Both Z720 and R720 LED Ring lights are available in Daylight only or Bi-Color.

There's that saying "The best camera is the one you always have with you". This is Panasonic's latest Hybrid Android SmartPhone + Camera. As a camera the new DMC-CMM1P offers features such as full HD Video, an F/2.8 Leica Lens, 4K 15fps burst, a 1" sensor, mechanical shutter for up to 1/2000ths Shutter Speed, full manual control over shutter & iris, and even captures RAW. Physical camera buttons and a control ring allow you to manually change certain camera settings. There even looks to be some lens adapters which may offer wide angle and telephoto.

Any Sony A7s owner knows there are a few things this camera needs to get the best possible quality out of it. If you want 4K footage, you simply can't record to internal media, so you'll be adapting a recorder like the Atomos Shogun. The battery life is also terrible, so a decent external power option might be the IndiProtools Power Pods (found here).

With these accessories, you'll need a solid way to mount it to the Sony A7s. There's a number of rigs i've shown in the past, and this is just another great option to consider for your A7s. Last month Lanparte shipped over to me the HHG-01 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer that can be used Smartphones and GoPro Cameras (optional adapter). Here's a video review about the parts, pieces, and at the end video samples of just handheld shooting with the GoPro HERO4.

The Lanparte HHG-01 3-Axis Gimbal worked perfectly to stabilize my handheld shots as I moved the camera around and kept my horizons perfectly level. I had absolutely no issues with drifting and rolling. It's certainly one of the best options available for those who want the option to shoot with both a GoPro or switch off to an iPhone instead of investing in a gimbal that can only be used with one.

Almost everyday, i'm still asked about a straight forward Monitor Mount for Gimbal Stabilizers. Well, here's one i've been using that's worked out great. This ACTIVEON Roll Bar Mount attaches to roll bars, handlebars, and tubes that are 0.7" to 1.6" in diameter and features a 1/4"-20 mounting thread to which you can attach a mini ball head, or your monitor directly.

As this clamp can mount to various sized round tubes, i've found great uses for this attached to lightstands, tripod legs, or tripod center columns. But if you just need to mount a monitor on a stabilizer, it will work on every CAME-TV gimbal available, and because you can adjust the clamp size it will also work on both DJI Ronin and the smaller DJI Ronin-M gimbals which have different diameter tubing.

There was certainly a lot of hype when AJA introduced the CION 4K/UHD and 2K/HD Production Camera back at NAB 2014, but I don't think it received quite the market traction they were hoping for. I'm not sure if it was the choice of PL Mount, the required AJA SSD Paks for internal recording media, lack of RAW, lack of a flat LOG Profile, or the price of just under $9K.
